Wooden Shape Sorting Clock Toy

The NESTA TOYS Wooden Shape Sorting Clock Toy is a Montessori-inspired learning toy designed for children 3 years and above. It combines a working clock with 12 removable number blocks featuring different shapes, colours and lacing holes, giving children multiple ways to explore time, numbers, shapes and hands-on problem-solving in one activity.

Made from durable wood with smooth edges and child-safe finishes, the clock features movable hour and minute hands that allow children to interact directly with the clock face. The removable blocks can be sorted, matched and threaded, making the toy useful for both early learning and fine motor play.

Why Children Enjoy Playing With This Shape Sorting Clock

The combination of clock learning, shape sorting and threading gives children different ways to interact with the same toy.

• Learn about time: Moving the hour and minute hands gives children a hands-on introduction to how a clock works.
• Recognise numbers: The numbered blocks provide opportunities to identify numbers and practise number order.
• Match shapes: Children can observe the shape edges of the blocks and find where they fit on the clock.
• Explore colours: The colourful blocks make it easy to introduce simple colour identification and sorting activities.
• Build fine motor skills: Picking up, placing and threading the blocks encourages controlled hand and finger movements.
• Develop hand-eye coordination: Matching each block to its corresponding position requires children to coordinate what they see with how they move their hands.
• Encourage early problem-solving: Children can experiment with different blocks and work out where each one belongs.
• Support independent learning: Children can repeat sorting, threading, counting and clock activities at their own pace.

Ways Kids Can Play With the Shape Sorting Clock

The clock can be introduced through simple activities that gradually combine numbers, shapes and early time concepts.

• Sort the number blocks: Ask children to remove the blocks and arrange them in numerical order.
• Match shapes: Encourage children to find the correct position for each shape-edged block on the clock.
• Practise counting: Count the 12 blocks together and connect them with the numbers around a clock face.
• Move the clock hands: Let children move the hour and minute hands while introducing simple times such as 1 o'clock, 3 o'clock or 6 o'clock.
• Thread the blocks: Use the lacing holes for simple threading activities that encourage finger coordination and dexterity.
• Play a colour game: Ask children to find a particular colour or group blocks according to colour.
• Create a time challenge: Set the hands to a simple hour and ask your child which number the hour hand is pointing towards.
• Combine learning activities: Use counting, shape matching and clock-hand movement together to create short learning games.
